MCAs demand list of illegal clinics after Mugo scandal

Nairobi MCAs are seeking clarity on illegal clinics in the city following the recent expose of James Mugo alias Mugo wa Wairimu.On Wednesday, chair of the Nairobi County Assembly Women Caucus Doris Kanario requested for a statement on the number of clinics operating without licences in the city.“I wish to request a statement from the chairperson of the sectoral committee on Health services regarding the alleged operation of illegal clinics in the county, specifically the recent case of Dr James Mugo alias Mugo wa Wairimu,” Kanario said.

Two employees of quack doctor Mugo wa Wairimu have been arraigned in court and charged with seven counts among them operating a medical clinic without a license.

Parents of the alleged quack doctor Mugo wa Wairimu have come out to defend their son against claims that he is not a qualified medical practitioner. Speaking to the media at their home near Dagoretti Market, his mother Regina Wairimu says Mugo studied at the University of Nairobi and graduated in 2000. “He is my son, of whom I am proud. Even if you came with a big gun and asked me to deny him, I would die defending him.”
